A stronger farm bill can deliver real reform, strengthen the farm safety net, restore fairness to agricultural markets, and create more opportunities for family farms to thrive.

A Farm bill that works for family farmers
Farm policy should work for the families who grow our food, and right now it does not. That starts with the safety net. It still exists, but it no longer reflects the economic realities farmers face. Family farmers need one built around today’s costs and markets, so one bad year does not mean losing the farm.
Break the power of corporate monopolies
When corporate monopolies control agricultural markets, family farmers get squeezed and families pay more. Stronger competition gives farmers a fairer chance to earn from the marketplace and benefits everyone.
Know where your food comes from
Consumers deserve to know where their beef comes from, and family ranchers deserve credit for raising it. Honest labeling gives families more information about what they buy while supporting the ranchers who raise their food.
Grow markets here at home
Family farmers need strong, reliable markets for what they grow. Building domestic demand, from biofuels to local and regional markets, creates more opportunities for farmers to earn from the marketplace while strengthening rural economies.
