Legislative Fly-In

Share your story where decisions are made. At NFU’s Legislative Fly-In, farmers and ranchers come together in Washington, D.C., to speak directly with lawmakers and advocate for meaningful change.

Farmers Union members from across the country will gather in Washington, DC for the NFU’s Fall Legislative Fly-In from September 14-16, 2026.

Fly-in attendees will:

  • Hear from U.S. Department of Agriculture officials about current events, opportunities, and other initiatives the department is undertaking.
  • Meet with administration officials from across the federal government and with congressional leaders about important issues impacting their farm operations and communities.
  • Visit with their members of Congress to highlight Farmers Union’s policy priorities and to discuss the challenges and issues they are facing back home.
  • Gather with fellow family farmers and ranchers from across the country to learn from each other and advocate together.

Fly-In Orientation Webinar

Join this interactive webinar at 3pm on Wednesday, September 2 to learn more about the policy topics and messages to be raised with lawmakers during the fly-in. NFU staff will also share helpful advice for being an effective advocate during Capitol Hill meetings.

Monday, September 14

8:15AM - 11:15AM

Opening and USDA Briefing

Jefferson Auditorium, USDA South Building; 1400 Independence Avenue SW

Participants should line up at 7:30 am at the Wing 5 (five) Entrance of the USDA South Building with fly-in name tags and photo IDs ready for the security screening. The event will include a welcome message from NFU President Rob Larew, presentations on policy topics by NFU staff, and updates from USDA and other Federal officials about the issues facing family farmers and ranchers.  

1:30PM - 4:00PM

Capitol Hill Briefing

G50 Dirsken Senate Office Building – (50 Constitution Ave NE)

Congressional leaders and staff, including from the Senate and House Agriculture Committees, will provide policy updates about the status of the farm legislation and fly-in priority topics. 

4:30PM - 6:30PM

Welcome Reception

20 F Street NW - Rooftop Terrace

Join with Farmers Union members from across the country to enjoy appetizers and refreshments at the NFU office rooftop terrace. In the event of inclement weather, this gathering will be held in the lobby. 

Tuesday, September 15

8:00AM - 5:00PM

Capitol Hill and Agency Meetings

Fly-In attendees will meet with Members of Congress and their staff, along with representatives from key federal agencies to discuss Farmers Union priorities. Contact your state division or group lead for more information on meeting times and details. 

5:00PM - 7:00PM

NFUPAC Fundraising Reception

NFU Office: 20 F Street NW, Suite 300 (3rd Floor)

$100 suggested contribution. Support the work of NFUPAC and enjoy light refreshments and fellowship. Several lawmakers are expected to drop by to share their greetings and to meet NFUPAC contributors. Space is limited for this event. 

Wednesday, September 16

8:00AM - 5:00PM
