For more than a century, National Farmers Union has worked to strengthen family agriculture. Family farming has changed significantly since our organization’s founding, but one thing remains the same: the need to foster young farmers and ranchers to ensure their success for generations to come.

Farmers Union Next Generation, or NextGen, is a cohesive suite of Farmers Union programming that is focused on connecting family farmers ages 21-45 and building the skills they need to help their farm operation and community thrive. By combining resources and integrating knowledge from across our membership, NextGen provides a space for the next generation of farmers and ranchers to learn, grow, and succeed.

Advocacy Training

Become the best advocate you can at the federal, state, and local level with trainings from the NFU team and guest speakers before taking your new talents to Capitol Hill for meetings with lawmakers.

Beginning Farmer Institute

National Farmers Union Beginning Farmer Institute (BFI) is a free, online, 10-week intensive program intended to improve the health of your farm or ranch business. The program is open to producers ages 18 and up and is inclusive of all operation types and scales of production.
