What is #GivingTuesday?

Giving Tuesday is an an annual global day of giving that helps raise funds and awareness for important causes everywhere. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

How is NFU participating?

NFU is running a #FriendAFarmer campaign to raise awareness and funds for its beginning farmers and ranchers program. Check out the campaign below. NFU is also accepting donations for the NFU Beginning Farmer Institute (BFI) through the beginning of January. Click the button below to donate!

What to do until #GivingTuesday? #FriendAFarmer!

Are you appreciative of the folks that grow your food, fuel, feed and fiber? Then #FriendAFarmer today to let them know how much they are appreciated! Here’s what you can do:

  1. Write a short appreciation note to a farmer on a piece of paper or small whiteboard.
  2. Include #FriendAFarmer on the letter/whiteboard.
  3. Have a picture taken – or take a “selfie” – of you holding the letter, and post the picture on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  4. Make sure you tag the picture with #FriendAFarmer and @nationalfarmersunion to be included on our website and in our Facebook album!
