Katie Jantzen grew up on a dairy farm in southeast Nebraska. She received a B.A. in Environmental Sustainability from Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia, where she became interested in local food systems. She spent several years in Indiana working with a variety of local food initiatives and developing the Seed to Feed program of the Church Community Services food pantry in Elkhart, a program that utilizes community resources and volunteer labor to provide fresh, local food to area food pantries. She has worked on community supported agriculture (CSA) farms in Indiana and Nebraska, and is currently developing plans to start a vegetable CSA operation on her family’s land.
