Akello Karamoko | Michigan

Akello Karamoko is a native Detroiter that has always had a black thumb. He grew up gardening in his mother's backyard garden. Farming as a career path is hardly on the minds of other youth growing up in Detroit, but he sought out programs to learn how to plan, grow, harvest, and sell his own crops. His purpose is to provide similar opportunities for youth in Detroit. He plans to provide the next generation with the spark to partake in agriculture. Akello's goal is to run and operate Detroit's largest and financially successful farm. To reach this goal he plans to continue pursuing his education in farming, connecting with other farmers, enjoying the journey and the good food too.
