New NFU Staff in Washington
Friday, February 9th, 2007
Sarah Gallo is the newest member of NFU’s legislative staff.
She grew up in rural Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree in marine science from Boston University. She used her knowledge of fisheries biology and management at the Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association (CCCHFA) in Chatham, Mass., where she served as the communications coordinator and a member of the campaign team. In addition to acting as a liaison between the organization’s staff and membership, Gallo spent time on Capitol Hill educating members of Congress about the most urgent needs facing the small, dayboat fishermen of traditional maritime towns.
The affiliation between the CCCHFA and NFU afforded Gallo the opportunity to highlight the similarities between fishing and farming and the common challenges that the two industries face.
